Sun Safety Skin Cancer Awareness
The Town of Salisbury is implementing a Sun Safety and Skin Cancer awareness program. This program would include educational learning sessions for school aged children during the Skin Cancer Awareness Month of May.
During our Open Space and Recreation Public meeting on December 4, 2024 we discussed working with Summer Camp programs to give access to Sunscreen and educational fliers to post at our public parks and recreation areas about protecting your skin. The group focused on the importance of shade structures and trees in our public spaces.
While focusing mainly on education and preventative care with our younger generation, we discussed the importance of educating our elderly population as well. We are seeking out a Dermatologist to meet with our Council on Aging for Skin Cancer Awareness/screening and how to spot skin cancer.
