A BREAKDOWN OF THE PROPOSED NATURAL RESOURCE BYLAW

WHAT THE BYLAW DOES

Salisbury’s wetlands, marshes, riverfront, and barrier beach protect our town in many ways- they recharge our water supply and clean our water, mitigate floods, reduce storm damage, support wildlife and fisheries, prevent pollution, and preserve the natural beauty we love. This bylaw helps protect those critical areas by requiring permits for activities that could significantly alter them. It’s based on state law but tailored for Salisbury’s unique needs, and it’s built with flexibility and fairness at its core.
