Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program-Action Grant FY26
Salisbury Coastal Resilience Planning Project
The Salisbury Coastal Resilience Planning Project aims to build upon previous
resiliency planning efforts by the Town of Salisbury to address the increasing impacts
of coastal hazards on the Town’s critical infrastructure. These impacts, primarily
driven by coastal processes exacerbated by global climate change, are the focus of
two major project components: flooding of vital transportation pathways and the
degradation of area salt marshes. This project will combine field data collection,
computer modeling, and community engagement to support the Town in prioritizing
coastal infrastructure projects with a focus on nature-based solutions to support long term
adaptation. Specifically, this project focuses on the interconnectedness of the
Great Marsh complex with local transportation arteries and on ways to best utilize
area salt marshes as natural flood reservoirs when paired with upgrades to local
roadway crossings.
