National Grid - Smart Meter Upgrades Coming to Salisbury
National Grid will be installing new smart meters throughout Salisbury over the next few months. These upgrades will replace aging meters and support a more reliable, modern energy system.
Your new smart meter will provide:
· More customer control — Continuous, secure access to your energy data gives you clearer insight into how and when you use energy.
· Faster, near real‑time readings — Usage data is available within minutes through your MyAccount portal. Need an account? Create one at ngrid.com/myaccount.
· Faster response — Enhanced outage monitoring and storm response for greater peace of mind.
Your current utility meter is aging and needs to be replaced—just like any other appliance. As National Grid updates meters across town, the goal is to help customers manage energy use more effectively with modern smart‑meter technology.

Opt‑Out Option
If you prefer not to receive a smart meter, you may choose to opt out and have a conventional, non‑communicating meter installed instead. Opt‑out is available only for customers on Residential R‑1 and R‑2 rates. Because these meters do not transmit data automatically, they require manual readings by a utility representative, which includes an associated cost.
