Accidental Sewer Discharge Notice

The City of Haverhill has issued a warning to cities and towns along the Merrimack River that there was an accidental discharge on Thursday, June 25, of 60,000 gallons of sewage into the City’s storm drainage system, which flows into the Merrimack.  The Haverhill DPW is urging residents of communities that border the river to avoid contact with the river water for 48 hours, as bacteria and other pollutants from untreated wastewater pose a health risk.
