Fire Prevention
The Fire Prevention mission is to reduce risks to life and property from fire and other hazards. Periodic inspections and enforcement of fire prevention codes can greatly reduce these risks.

The Salisbury Fire Department, by state regulations, no longer issues permits for Fire Protection systems, I.E. New fire alarms in Residential (one and two-family dwellings, commercial fire alarm systems, and fire sprinklers.)

Permits for such installations are under the authority of the building department.

The Salisbury Fire Department remains responsible for the inspection of fire protection systems as required by 780 CMR 905.1.

In accordance with the regulations, 527 CMR 1.00: Massachusetts Comprehensive Fire Safety Code the following permits are issued.

  • Storage of flammable and combustibles
  • Repair garages
  • Cutting and Welding
  • Shut down of fire protection systems
  • Storage, use, and production of hazardous materials
