Fire Hydrant Flushing

The Department of Public Works, through its contractor, Pennichuck Water Service, will be flushing hydrants April 19th through April 26th, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. 

Hydrant flushing is done to ensure that hydrants are in working order for fire protection, and to remove mineral deposits that may accumulate in the water distribution system. Please refrain from doing laundry during flushing operations and be sure to check the color of the water prior to doing laundry. Discolored water may stain clothing.  Low pressure and cloudy water are normal. There are no health hazards associated with discolored water.

On April 19th flushing will begin on Black Snake Road, Locust Street and Congress Street. All side streets in this area could be affected. Updates on each days affected areas will be provide 24 hours prior to flushing.
