Route 1 Newburyport Rotary Work

 The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing crews will be implementing daily lane closures on Route 1 northbound and southbound at the Newburyport Rotary. The lane closures are scheduled to start on Tuesday, September 5, and will continue through Friday, November 17, occurring daily, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The temporary lane closures are necessary to allow the contractor to safely and effectively perform roadway reconstruction, paving operations, and other incidental work for the reconstruction of the Newburyport Rotary.

The work is being conducted as part of a $17.2 million project to resurface and perform related work along approximately 7 miles of roadway on this section of Route 1.

Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.   

Drivers who are traveling through these areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
