Electricity Aggregation Update

In May of this year, the Town Manager signed a three-year renewal, 2022 through 2024, with First Point Power to obtain electricity for the Town at a fixed rate of 11.134 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh). This rate applies to all residential and business National Grid customers.

National Grid, which changes its rate twice a year, just released its Basic Service Rate for the period of November 1, 2022 through April 30, 2023. It is 33.891 cents per kilowatt hour for residential service and 32.287 cents/kWh for commercial customers. So, the Town's existing rate will be a significant savings over the National Grid Basic Service Rate for this coming winter. This rate will apply to everyone currently enrolled in the Town's electricity aggregation program and to all new customers who have never been enrolled in the program.

However, the Town was informed by Colonial Power recently that those customers who had opted out of The Town's aggregation program may NOT opt back in to take advantage of the 11.134 cents per kilowatt hour rate. This information is different from how the program has operated since its inception in 2018, where customers could opt out or in at any time. Customers who have concerns about this development may contact the Town's consultant, Colonial Power by calling (866) 485-5858 or see their website: https://colonialpowergroup.com/salisbury/.
