CDC Guidelines

CDC

The Town of Salisbury is continuing to monitor the pandemic so that we may keep our staff and our visitors as safe as possible. On July 27, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) promulgated new guidelines relating to wearing masks. The CDC released these new guidelines as a response to the growing variant of COVID-19 which has been given the designation of “Delta.” The CDC is now suggesting that areas being designated as Substantial or High in transmission of COVID-19 proceed to have people wear masks when indoors to slow the spread of the Delta variant. At this time, all counties in Massachusetts with the exception of one, have been designated either Substantial or High.

As always, the Town is closely monitoring the environmental conditions of the pandemic. Vaccinated people are at a low risk of contracting the Delta variant and current information shows that the vaccinated people who do contract the Delta variant, typically have mild symptoms. As of August 7th, Massachusetts health officials reported that only 0.23% of vaccinated residents have had a breakthrough case of COVID-19. Therefore, at this time, we will not be mandating masks to staff or visitors. Anyone who wishes to wear a mask to give themselves another layer of protection is encouraged to do so.

Boards/Committees and visitors to our municipal buildings may continue operating and receiving services as normal and no changes will be made to operations at this time.
