      Mission

 

     

The Community Development Block Grant staff is responsible for the preparation and administration of grant funded programs designed to assist in the development and rehabilitation of affordable housing for low to moderate income families living in the Town of Salisbury. The CDBG staff also administers the Boys & Girls Club scholarships and the Pettengill House Emergency Assistance program.

Citizens’ Advisory Committee

The Town encourages the full involvement of its residents, community leaders and organizations in the planning, implementation, and review of Community Development Block Grant funded programs.  Please feel free to contact us at cdbg@salisburyma.gov with comments, feedback, or suggestions.

 

The Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC) meets quarterly to discuss the changing needs of the community.  All of their meetings are open to the public and are held in locations that are accessible to persons with disabilities.  Salisbury residents are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Please contact the Office of Planning and Development if special accommodations or translators are needed at any of the meetings.

Community Development Strategy

The Community Development Strategy combines Salisbury’s efforts at community-based planning, identifies and prioritizes goals, and identifies strategies for addressing those needs over the next three to five years by targeting specific areas including the Salisbury Center Corridor, the Beach Commercial District and the Rabbit Road District. This plan is updated yearly by the CAC  with citizen input.

 Services

 Salisbury Housing Rehabilitation Program

  -   

Personalized assistance in the application process to qualify for housing rehab grants and loans for up to $30,000.  Units with lead or septic replacement/sewer tie-in issues can receive up to $35,000. 

To be placed on this program’s waiting list, please fill out the pre-application.

Guidance from our Rehab Specialist as to the scope of rehab work required and the selection of an approved contractor.

Project monitoring at every level of development

Maintaining a list of CDBG eligible projects including: Public facilities and infrastructure upgrades, Architectural Barrier Removal Program, and Lead Abatement Assistance.

 

Boys and Girls Club Scholarship Program

-The Boys and Girls Club Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to low/moderate income Salisbury residents to attend the Boys and Girls Club.  Please fill out pre-application to begin process. 

 

Pettengill House Emergency Assistance Program

-Emergency Assistance Program administered through the Pettengill House.  This program provides up to $500 to low/moderate income Salisbury residents to help meet emergency needs; including, but not limited to, assisting with utilities, rent, childcare, and transportation.  Please contact Pettengill House directly at 978-463-8801 to apply today.  Questions or comments regarding the program may also be directed to CDBG program staff (contact information above).
